Southport Golf Club has just marked 100 years as one of the Gold Coast’s most established golfing communities. With its centenary behind it, the club is looking forward, guided by a clear 2024 to 2029 Strategic Plan developed in alignment with the Strategy for Australian Golf. The ambition is straightforward and genuine: to be recognised as a premier club on the Gold Coast, offering a great golfing experience, a welcoming community, and facilities that match.
This is a pivotal moment. The club is progressing a costed, long-term Facility Development Plan, a multi-year greens reconstruction and course improvement program, and a considered approach to new revenue streams, including function and hospitality growth and site development opportunities. The General Manager will be central to bringing all of it together.
The opportunity
Reporting to the Board, the General Manager holds full operational leadership of the club. You will translate the Strategic Plan into results, lead and develop the administration and course teams, and build the commercial performance that funds the club’s future.
Your focus will include:
- Driving membership growth and retention, with particular attention to younger and female participation.
- Growing revenue across golf operations, food and beverage, functions, and events.
- Partnering with the Board to deliver the Facility Development Plan and the course and greens program.
- Strengthening governance, financial reporting, and day-to-day operations.
- Leading a capable, friendly team and building a culture of common purpose.
About you
You are an experienced leader, ideally from a member-based club, hospitality, or a comparable community or commercial environment. You bring commercial acumen, sound financial management, and the ability to work in genuine partnership with a volunteer Board. You are a confident communicator who can engage members, staff, stakeholders, and the wider Gold Coast community. Experience in the golf industry is valued, though the club is equally interested in the right leader from an adjacent sector.
