EnvoyGolf Global Programme
The EnvoyGolf Global Programme connects experienced greenkeepers with leading golf clubs around the world, providing opportunities to gain international experience and develop their careers in golf course maintenance.
Participants work in different climates, course and maintenance environments, gaining exposure to a wide range of turf management practices and learning new techniques from experienced teams. All while experiencing working and living in different countries and cultures.
While many placements occur in Australia and New Zealand during their peak growing seasons, the EnvoyGolf Global Programme has expanded to include opportunities in other international markets.
The programme originally began as a seasonal exchange initiative bringing northern hemisphere-based greenkeepers to Australia and New Zealand over the southern summer. Over time it has naturally evolved into something broader. Many participants have returned for multiple seasons, worked at different clubs, and in some cases continued their careers in other countries.
Participants typically take part in placements lasting 6 months, but some have extended up to 12 months and longer, depending on visa eligibility and club requirements
Frequently Asked Questions
The only costs occur after you have been offered and accepted a role.
These typically include:
• The cost of your Working Holiday Visa or other applicable visa (this is something you must apply and pay for yourself).
• The cost of your international airfare. This will usually be a return airfare with flexibility to change your return date if required.
• Accommodation once you arrive in the host country.
• Other personal expenses such as mobile phone plans, local transportation and general living costs.
Some clubs may choose to reimburse certain costs once the placement has been successfully completed.
We require all participants to allow us to book and coordinate your flights. The reason for this is that we use a dedicated company agent. In the event of any issues, flight cancellations, or delays, we will all have direct contact with this agent to facilitate those changes and assist with any other questions or issues. All these flights are with full-service, high-quality airlines. There may be slightly cheaper options out there, but generally have no ability to contact anyone in the event of an issue and can be less reliable.
We strongly recommend that you do submit a video application as it provides you with the best chance to present yourself as a potential employee. It provides the potential employers with a much greater insight into you as a person and they use these videos to select who they bring forward to interview.
We use this approach, to ensure not only that someone is committed to travelling to Australia and New Zealand for these roles, but that they are also eligible for the relevant visas to allow them to work here. Once this is established and confirmed, we then release specific job listings and locations for your consideration.
This will be dependent on the location and your preference. Some golf clubs do provide dedicated accommodation, but most do not, and accommodation alternatives will vary from location to location. So, you may choose to live with others doing what you are doing or find a room in a shared apartment or house through various accommodation platforms like Flatmates.com.

If you are not eligible for the Working Holiday Visa, Golf Clubs can access a mechanism to bring on board an individual for up to six (6) months if the Golf Club has a specific Project.
This Visa doesn’t have an age limit or limit on how many times it can be granted but it does require the individual to have at least three (3) years or 36 months of experience. The Golf Club may decide to pay for this Visa but can also ask for it to be recouped from the individual’s salary.
This mechanism is slightly more challenging than the Working Holiday Visa, and not all Golf Clubs will be open to bringing someone on board using this mechanism.
Yes! Once you have submitted your application and we begin the placement process, we will share any openings across Australia and New Zealand if you are interested in both countries.
You can contact either your employing golf club or us here at EnvoyGolf and we will assist in whatever way we can. At the start of your employment, we will also ask you to provide an emergency contact from back home and suggest you provide our contact details to your family or other contacts in case they are unable to make contact with you for any reason.
What you do with your free time is entirely up to you! With a regular schedule, you will be able to travel and explore the country you’re working in during your time off if you desire to do so. Adventure awaits!
If you decide you would like to stay longer term and explore the opportunity to gain full-time ongoing employment, then you should contact your employing golf club and/or us here at EnvoyGolf. Your ability to stay longer on a full-time basis will depend on your eligibility for relevant visas that will allow you to do that.
The amount of time you wish to work is up to you and our employers. The Working Holiday Maker Visa makes you eligible to work in either country of Australia or New Zealand for a full year. It is your choice whether to take advantage of the entirety of the visa or stay for a shorter time period. We recommend that you work 6 months to a year for the fullest experience.
The objective of the orientation programme is to set you up for success so you can make the most of your time here in Australia or New Zealand. It will allow you a couple of days to start getting over your jet lag, finalise your banking arrangements and other administration around phone plans etc. It is also a fun opportunity to introduce you to your employing clubs, others starting their jobs, and our representatives through some social events. There will be a few brief presentations on how to best engage with your new employers and roles here, in addition to how to make the most of your life here outside of work.
That will vary depending on the clubs and staffing needs. A typical range will start in October and generally last until March/April, but this is subject to both the club’s and your availability.
This is usually available depending on the reason, such as for medical appointments. The ability to request additional time off typically becomes more available when a good mutually beneficial working relationship has been established between you and your employer.
Public transportation in most cities is good and easy to use, but less so in smaller regional centres. You might choose to consider obtaining a car on a subscription/rented basis depending on your location. We have organised subscription car services where you pay a weekly rate, for a fully maintained, registered, and insured secondhand vehicle.
