EnvoyGolf is all about connecting skills with needs across borders, and that is exactly what we did with this initiative last season.
We worked in cooperation with golf industry associations in various, mostly Scandinavian, countries to assist their up and coming professional greens staff to find seasonal placements with golf courses in Australia, at a time when their own golf courses are closed for up to six months through their winter.
We did this by connecting these young greens professionals with Australian golf course Superintendents in need of additional staff through the growing season.
We provided Superintendents with access to a pool of experienced greens staff, enthusiastic to expand their turf management knowledge and experience in Australian conditions and working environments. These individuals came with the recommendation of their employers and were sourced and vetted through their own national industry associations.
We provided profiles, videos and referee details on a selection of individuals that fit the requirements, we then help facilitate and follow up on video interviews with preferred candidates, and assist both sides right through to offer and acceptance. The individuals then applied online for the Working Holiday Visa (417 and 462) scheme, which is geared to those under 30 or 35 years of age, the maximum age depending on the country of their origin. These visas are usually granted almost immediately and enable the holders to work for one employer for up to six months, suiting this situation perfectly.
Once candidates have secured a placement and the golf courses their new experienced summer casual, we provide assistance with all the practical matters around relocating them from the other side of the world and settling them into working life in Australia. This includes assisting with flights, sourcing accommodation, right through to bank accounts and phones plans and following up and checking in with them and the golf clubs they are working at, throughout their stay.
Our primary objective is to achieve the best possible experience for all parties involved. If this also contributes to building a mutually beneficial partnership across borders between two very different geographies within the golf industry, then that is a real bonus for us at EnvoyGolf.
